What is the food minimum for private events, and do you have a travel fee?
Private events require a $1,300 food minimum within the metro area. Travel fees may apply outside the metro.
Travel fees may apply for events outside the metro area. We charge $2.76 per mile for our food truck and catering van for any mileage beyond 30 miles round-trip from our home base at Dots Gray (208 29th Ave. N, Minneapolis, MN 55411).
Because the truck and catering van each have only two seatbelts, an additional staff vehicle is required for some events. The staff vehicle is billed at $1.77 per mile for mileage beyond the initial 30 miles, and we reserve the right to include a labor charge when additional staffing or extended travel time is required.
All travel charges apply only to mileage exceeding the included 30-mile allowance.
How long does the food truck serve at an event?
Service typically includes 2–3 hours, plus setup time. Additional hours can be added upon request at $100/per hour.
How many menu items can we select?
To ensure the highest quality and speed of service, we request that you choose up to 3 menu items for private events.
Can menu items be served in smaller portions?
Yes — many items are available in half or full-size, depending on your event style.
What kind of parking or space does the food truck require?
A flat, level surface with safe access in and out is required.
Driveways, parking lots, and approved street parking work well.
We cannot park on soft or wet grass, steep inclines, or uneven surfaces.
Do you need electricity or hookups?
No external power is needed — our truck is fully self-contained.
When does the food truck arrive?
We typically arrive 30 minutes before service to set up and prepare for your event.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, as a down payment secures your date, service style, and time slot. You can adjust your quantities up to 10 days before your event — with reductions allowed up to 10% and no limit on increases.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Please note: We operate out of a shared commercial kitchen and a compact food truck environment. While we take care with dietary requests, cross-contamination can occur. Individuals with severe allergies should be aware that we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
We do offer gluten-friendly options such as GF buns and kettle chips; however, our regular buns and fries do contain gluten.
Can leftovers be packaged?
Great question. Because we often serve two events per day, we operate on a tight schedule. Please let us know before your event how you’d like us to handle any remaining food. Your options include:
1. Cook-Out at the End of Service
During the final 15–20 minutes of your service window, we’ll cook any remaining food. A designated person will need to pick up the items before service ends, and they will be packaged in our standard serving boats.
2. Pack Into Foil Pans
We can cook out your remaining food and pack whatever fits into three foil hotel pans for you to take with you.
3. Guest “Last Call” Announcement
We recommend coming to the truck with about 30 minutes remaining. This gives you time to circulate among your guests—or have your grad make a quick announcement. It’s a double win: guests get a final chance for seconds, and your grad gets another friendly moment with everyone. This also helps share the responsibility of communicating “last call.”
4. Custom Requests
If you have a different preference for how leftovers should be handled, we’re happy to explore options as long as they fit within our service schedule. Please arrange in advance so we can share the details with our team.
Do you offer a discount for cash, check, or ACH payments?
Yes — we offer a 3.5% discount when you pay by cash, check, or ACH. Credit card fees are increasingly challenging for small businesses (and yes, you’re taxed on them too), so skipping the middleman saves us both money.
Just let us know before you make your down payment and we’ll apply the discount. When it’s time for your final payment, simply notify us again and we’ll adjust the invoice per your preference.
